Narrative Paragraph( đoạn văn tường thuật): A narrative paragraph is a paragraph that tells a story or describes an event.

   Characteristics of a Narrative Paragraph

+ It tells a story.

+It has a beginning, a middle, and an end.

+It uses descriptive language to help readers understand the events and feelings clearly.

Parts of a Narrative Paragraph

1. Topic Sentence

The topic sentence is the first sentence of the paragraph.

Functions:

  • Introduces the main idea of the story.
  • Prepares readers for what will happen next.

Example:

Last Sunday was the most exciting day of my life.

2. Beginning of the Story

The beginning sets the scene for the story.

Functions:

  • Introduces the time and place.
  • Introduces the people involved.
  • Describes the initial situation or feelings.

Example:

I went to an amusement park with my friends.

3. Middle of the Story

The middle contains the main action or event.

Functions:

  • Describes what happened.
  • Presents the main problem, challenge, or exciting event.

Example:

We rode many roller coasters and watched a magic show.

 4. End of the Story

The end provides the final result of the story.

Functions:

  • Explains how the event ended.
  • Gives the writer’s feelings, reaction, or lesson learned.

Using Descriptive Language

Descriptive language helps readers imagine the story more clearly and feel the emotions of the experience.

Instead of using general words, use more precise vocabulary.

For example: nice => interesting, thrilling, superb

  *Grammar:

Simple Past (QKĐ): Hành động đã xảy ra và kết thúc trong quá khứ.

S + V2/ed
Example: I visited Mexico in 2017.

Past Progressive (QKTD): Hành động đang diễn ra tại một thời điểm trong quá khứ.
S + was/were + V-ing
Example: My friends were living in Mexico.

Kết hợp hai thì:

  • While + was/were + V-ing, V2/ed
  • was/were + V-ing + when + V2/ed

Example: I was studying when my friend called me.

                     An Important Lesson I Learned

One important lesson that I learned from a real experience was to be more careful with my belongings. Last year, I traveled to another city with my friends. While we were walking around a crowded market, I was taking photos and enjoying the scenery. Suddenly, I realized that I had lost my wallet. I felt scared and stressed because my ID card and some money were inside. Fortunately, a kind person found it and returned it to me. After that experience, I learned to keep my important things in a safe place and pay more attention to them.

Nhận xét

  1. Câu chuyện rõ ràng! Chỉ cần đổi 'were inside' thành 'had been inside' cho đúng ngữ pháp. Ngoài ra, nên dùng cụm 'keep my valuable belongings safe' thay cho 'keep my important things in a safe place' nghe sẽ chuyên nghiệp hơn.
